Water sports around Hyères
The îles d'Or and the Giens peninsula are a real delight for water sports enthusiasts. The 4 km-long Almanarre beach offers a host of activities to suit all tastes. From diving and catamaran sailing for sea lovers, to wingfoil and kite-surfing for the more adventurous, there's something for everyone. Here's a small, non-exhaustive selection.

Diving or snorkeling
Divers, grab your masks. Port-Cros, Porquerolles and Giens offer a wealth of beautiful sites to explore. Many are reserved for experienced divers, such as the Gorgonian drop-off on Porquerolles. But some sites, like the Nidan reefs, are accessible to beginners.
The same goes for the wrecks: if you want to see grounded aircraft from the Second World War, you'll need to demonstrate a certain level of experience. In Hyères, on the other hand, you'll find shipwrecks from the 19th century that are much more accessible.
If the depths frighten you, try snorkeling. You'll see some beautiful fish and be amazed by the beauty of the aquatic flora, which you'd never suspect.

Kite-surfing
Kite-surfing needs no introduction. Over the past twenty years, the discipline has spread to almost every beach in France. Why not try your hand at this unconventional form of kiteboarding? Several schools offer courses in Hyères and on the Giens peninsula. Come and contemplate the big blue from a little higher up, you won't regret it: the sensations are breathtaking.

Catamaran
Treat yourself to a day of escape and freedom with your family. How about a catamaran cruise? Numerous service providers offer packages to suit all budgets and tastes. From a short 3-hour cruise with swimming stopovers to a full-day cruise with dinner included, the choice is yours. Sailing a catamaran is a very pleasant way to discover the coastline.

Wingfoil
You may be familiar with the windfoil, the improved sailboard that takes off thanks to the foil. Attached to the underside of the board, the foil reduces friction and increases speed. But are you familiar with the wingfoil?
It's the same thing, except for one letter. Except that the sail is held at arm's length, without being attached to the board. And that changes everything. Free as a bird, you'll fly like a fish out of water. Numerous clubs offer courses on the beach at l'Almanarre.
Coastal lanyards
Perhaps you've already watched with amusement as a child “swam the crawl” in 50cm of water? What you didn't know was that this child was practicing coastal longevity without even knowing it. It's all a question of vocabulary.
Longe-côte is a real sporting activity, which can be practised by several people, with bare hands or with various accessories (paddles, etc.). Excellent for blood circulation, it's also a great endurance sport, accessible to all, as you don't need to know how to swim. With its superb beaches sheltered from the wind on both sides, the Giens peninsula is a paradise for water sports enthusiasts!
